Vladimir Prochazka
Vladimir Prochazka studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prof. S. Libensky’s atelier in Prague (1966-1972).
With his three-dimensional compositions and luminous objects, he has enhanced an inexhaustible number of interiors. He has created both modern and traditional compositions. His modern creations include the
glass luminous bridges in the Czech House of Parliament, which have been declared a National Cultural Monument. His traditional designs, such as the
light fixture in the baroque Loretto Church in Prague, have enhanced the already beautiful interiors of some of the most historic Czech buildings.
He has repeatedly used both innovative and traditional techniques in his designs. For example, the molten plastic method used in the window panels in St. George’s Rotunda (Říp Hill, Czech Republic) and in the church in Plzenec (Czech Republic), is an example of traditional technology used in an innovative way. Another method that Mr. Prochazka uses is stacked sheet glass, examples of which are the fountains in front of World Trade Center in Dubai and Foresbank in Teplice, Czech Republic.
Mr. Prochazka also creates notable work in the area of architectural glass and is one of the world’s most recognized molten glass sculptors. With his glass sculptures he has regularly won some of the most prestigious world sculpture competitions.
